Max Heise vs Vancouver 10/8/2025

Max Heise was an overage prospect in the 2025 NHL Draft. The San Jose Sharks selected the 6'3" center from the Penticton Vees (when they were in the BCHL) with the 150th pick of the draft. Heise is expected to join annual power house Michigan State next season, but with the new rules that allow for players to bounce between the NCAA and CHL, Heise is making a year-long pit stop in the WHL with the Prince Albert Raiders.

Heise's stat line from Prince Albert's 6-0 win over the Vancouver Giants on Wednesday, October 8, 2025:

1 goal, 1 assist, 7 SOG, 6/12 FOW
Named the 2nd star of the game

Three observations from Heise's performance:

Easy To See Why The Sharks Drafted Him

When drafting late, you look for players with traits that can help fill roles in your system. It doesn't take long to see why the Sharks drafted Heise. He plays a simple, no-nonsense type of game. He clearly understands his role and does it well.

Heise creating offensive pressure

Heise (14 in green) jumps on the ice, causes pressure, attacks, and retrieves. That is Heise's game in a nutshell. Attack, retrieve, attack again. You rarely see Heise going east and west; he is a downhill attacker who knows his strengths.
